Christiane and André – France

Voilà, a nice letter from Christiane and André. They stayed at Ancora del Chianti last summer and we still keep in touch. This is a letter they wrote us about a big change in their life: moving to Mayotte. I only could have the impression they are going far away from France, but I actually needed an atlas to see how much. Very far away!!

Wild Boar Festival on Show

Here is the pictures of the amazing Wild Boar Festival that took place in the little village of Chiocchio from 23rd April to 2nd May. Me and Filippo partecipated as guests several times with our friends and as waiters on 30th April, Friday night.

As you can see from the pictures, the atmosphere is captivating. You can feel that all the big job that is done everyday from the morning untill late at night is volunteers and with joy. The harder you have to work, the funnier it is in the end.

The total number of volunteers is about 50 people to coordinate and there are mainly 4 teams: organising, cooking, waiters and casher, cleaning and washing up. Me and Filippo were in the waiters group with Gianluca, Bottega, Tiziana, Simona, Romolo and Francesca.

The beginning of the evening was slow and few people arriving, but by 20,30 the crowd arrived and it was difficult to catch up with the orders and follow all the requests. None of us is a professional and for that reasons our efforts were doubled. By the end of the evening all seats available were busy and we hardly arrived to satisfy all the request escpecially for “cinghiale in umido”  (wild boar stew) that was a real success. Later we all danced with live music!!

If you misses to enjoy this appointment, do not worry. Next year the Wild Boar Festival Team is waiting for you End April – Beginning May.

Yorkshire Terrier: standard, carattere e foto dello Yorkshire TerrierHere a quick note sent by Ingbert and Rita and a special guest Nelson, their lovely Yorkshire dog. As you know we usually have free rooms so, we accomodate them in their and they accommodated Nelson in its beloved doggybed. We were curious about Maya’s reaction with this new guest and ……a friendship started and bloomed immediately!

“Hello Laura,

First of all I would like to say that we really enjoyed our stay at your place. Certainly some very nice memories to pull out when needed.
We certainly also know where to stay when coming back to the area next time around. It was also nice to meet some of your other guests during our stay.

Many thanks,

Ingbert, Rita and dog Nelson

Pierre and Annie

Voilà de Paris!!

We are happy to show these nice pictures coming from Paris. Annie and Pierre live in the suburb of Paris and they have a wonderful garden with lemon trees, vegetable garden, pbeutiful peonias and …..vines. I could not believe they can grow grapes as a such latitude in a private garden. This means that Pierre is really talented and grapes love him. They also make wine out of it and they offered us a bottle of their white wine for special occasions. We decided to open the bottle in occasion of our first barbecue in the garden with friends. We have now a table (someone have pictures of me painting the table in the barn….), a barbecue….just waiting for proper chair to match the iron legs of the table. Big deal…..

We thank you Annie and Pierre in advance for the wine and this the nice message they wrote to us.

Bien cordialement .  Annie et Pierre Mercadié”
