Thanks to Gunnel for the lovely watercolour of Ancora del Chianti farmhouse with irises and geranium.
Gunnel was here last spring with her family. She has a true passion for flowers, gardening and countryside. She comes to Tuscany as soon as she can and loves to visit us everytime! We keep in touch often as we share passions for art, gardening and …. sewing!!
After the arrival of her card, new ideas arise. I started using my pensils again in a different and more spontaneus way. It is funny: when you live somewhere, you are used to see the same landscape or scenery, no matter how beautiful it is. You may like to paint it (which is way of celebrating in the end) but it is always there and you say: “I will do that tomorrow”. And tomorrow never comes.
After the arrival of Gunnel’s Card, I started to observe the house, the property and the wild flowers we meet at the edge of the road when I go picking up the kids at the school bus in a different way. And the watercolour pensil became alive. You may have surprises in the next weeks….who knows.
The card is now in the breakfast room, welcoming all the guests everymorning.
Ancora del Chianti is such a beatiful place that also the postman doesn’t want to leave!!
First of all I offered him a lovely Italian coffee on the marble table of my kitchen. He was very upset because he still had some mail to deliver that day. After a second try with the car he decided to call the postoffice for help. They could not send someone to collect him and take him back to the postoffice but they could send someone to take the car. So I took him to Greve and once back at 15.30 I met the man in charge for the car waiting for the tow truck. The tow truck was late and we had time for:
- a nice conversation
- hanging washing in the garden
- unloading dishwasher
- another coffee
Blasippor, Vitsippor and Varlok these are the names of wild spring flowers that Annalisa sent from Sweden to Chianti.
She has been staying at Ancora del Chianti in the beginning of April. They enjoyed art, food and nature of Chianti and they ofeten had nice walks in the surrounding fields and forest. We both like wild flowers, so simple and delicate.
That’s why once back home she sent me a lovely letter with nice pictures of the typical Swedish spring flowers and left a review of her stay with us.
“At our arrival there was a flower and our names on our door, just Laura!! We had some nice spring days at Ancora del Chianti and the beautiful Toscany. The good breakfast indoors around the table together with the other guests we nice. Every morning Laura spent some time with us and there were chats on different subjects. We were happy to have chosen Ancora del Chianti and would be glad to come back, e.g in autumn. If you are planning a visit to Toscany go there! 17 April 2011 Annalisa and Arne”
