“A little taste of Paradise”
When first taking the little dirt road in the middle of wine yards and olive trees we were really asking ourselves where we would end up… I must admit we were initially quite skeptical but when once we reached the B&B it was definitely worth it. The view is breath taking with a magnificent view over the Tuscan hills and castles. During our drive it was cloudy but as we arrived the sun came out and we got enjoy a first glass of wine with some olives in the beautiful garden after having received a warm welcome by Laura and gotten a little tour of the premises (and smelling the roses, woaw!).
The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable – maybe just a little cold in the evening but I guess that’s due to the temperatures being a little bit lower than normal during our stay (and that was easily fixed with an extra blanket). The breakfast choice was enough with ham, cheese and yoghurts (we ate so much at lunch and dinner that we couldn’t have managed to have a bigger breakfast anyway!) – and thanks to Ingrid for her yummy morning cakes!
This is definitely a place to recommend for those wanting to enjoy nature and yet being close to many things to see and visit. Of course, if you come here in the middle of the summer, you might miss not having a swimming pool but for us, that didn’t matter. We are hoping that we will have the opportunity to come back soon!”

Trip Advisor Review: “Real tuscan country feeling”

Iceberg Rose at Ancora del Chianti

On 13rd of May we received a Trip Advisor Review Alert from a mysterious dk12345678 from Budapest – Hungary who stayed at Ancora del Chianti beginning of the month. We actually have an idea who it was …but we want to keep the secret and we thank a lot!!

From Tripadvisor.Com : “Real tuscan country feeling, nice surroundings, freedom to do what you feel like”
We have stayed in may 2012 in this former fattoria, with very nice surroundings and quiet countryside. Close to major tuscan sites to visit, and free to do what yo felt like, without very suggested ways of spending time. Nice house, very nicely renovated. it is a great house to spend quality time at. There is no swimming pool, so those looking for that … this is not your choice. But for wondering around Tuscany is great:) and a great host:)

A Bithday Gift – Regalo di Compleanno

Pink Country Rose - unknown

Usually on my birthday roses are in full blossom. This year my bithday was approching and no roses yet. It was a strange sensation as I did not really recognised the growing ….suspence despite the calendar as I had no “signs” from my garden. The plants have a lot of buds but the cold temperature of the last weeks postponed the spring flowering.

Crocus Rose - Austin

But the very day of my birthday, the sun shone so much that the buds could not help unfolding. So the very day after, when I opened my window I saw my beatiful roses smiling to me. I felt “la vie en rose” and wish to share with you that special feeling.

Iris Festival in San Polo in Chianti

Iris (Giaggiolo) in San Polo

Festa del Giaggiolo - San Polo in Chianti

This is the spectacular image you can admire in May while visiting Chianti: thousands of irises (iris pallida or “giaggiolo” in Florentine dialect) are in blossom between olive groves and vineyards, on declining hills or at the edge of a walled road.

Iris is a traditional product of Chianti and it is exported all over the world for cosmetique purposes. San Polo in Chianti is the main production centre of the area. Here every year we celebrate the beauty of this flower with a 4 day Festival of Irises with an interesting (and yummy) programme (4-6 May 2012).

Festival Program
