What a pleasure welcoming Alexandre with Louise from Lyon (F), our talented winner of Photo Contest 2014 during his complimentary stay at Ancora del Chianti B&B!

During his first visit in Tuscany of last year, he used to have breakfast on the terrace and leave home with all the equipment for open air landscape painting: tripode, chair and colours! He was all over in Tuscany and painted and sketched impressive sceneries of Chianti, Florence, Siena and Colle Val d’Elsa and San Gimignano choosing different time of the day for special light effects. He was able to experiment the whole range of Tuscan famous landscape in summer: hilltowns and buildings, vineyards, sunflower fields and forests with easy daytrips from the B&B. He really experienced how a painting holiday in Tuscany can be overwhelming and…. his beautiful artworks can testify.

This time he brought a super special gift from home: a painting he did last year during his first stay as sketch and he has been working on during springtime.  Now it is a beautiful painting of Santo Stefano in Campoli Church near Quattro Strade on the way to San Casciano Val di Pesa. I love the quick yet precise strokes and brown / burgundy shades. It is now in the reception for everybody to admire…and for my everyday delight!

We all thank Alexandre for his talent and generosity and find him here with Alessandra in the sun light right in front of the studio while having breakfast on the panoramic terrace.

Waiting for you to admire all this by real at Ancora del Chianti B&B !

Chianti Art Club: spring flowers at Ancora del Chianti

Painting Classes at Ancora del Chianti

On a sunny spring afternoon, we enjoyed an amazing watercolour painting class instructed by our charming teacher: all together we celebrated the first flowers of our garden at Ancora del Chianti.

The inspiring and silent setting and the lovely company helped a lot in order to create colourful and detailed flowers watercolours to hang, to offer or to keep for future improvements. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant with a cup of tea – and a glass of good Chianti wine for the wilder ones.

Watercolours in Chianti

Favourite subjects were daffodils, anemons and pervinca. Some other preferred simple fresh herbs as rosmary, sage and thyme with amazing results.

Autumn in Chianti: Splendour of Nature

Autumn in Chianti is so mild that we always have beautiful roses in the garden untill Christmas time. This is their last farewell before the winter rest.

The privilege of the Chianti perfect weather in autumn with mild temperatures, beautiful sunny days and perfect night moisture let a long second flowering for roses after the spring flowering. The flowering is usually so rich and so healthy that we can admire every single variety of rose of the garden at once. The white Iceberg rose and Crocus Rose, the red Crimson Glory, the Yellow Sahara and Graham Thomas, and the shocking pink roses stay all together in the same vase at the same time and it is true jubilation.

While I was taking these pictures, my youngest son Cesare suggested to add  his hand made boat with pink sail that he just painted with watercolour to the composition. Here it is: dark image but great match!

Cloe: jeans and blue butterflies

Spring time is a blessing: kids can play alone in the garden (extensively!) and I have time to dedicate to my passions!

Bentornata Primavera!

Spring can be also the perfect time for sewing as I appreciate brighter light and nature is so inspiring!

When the flowers are in blossoms, observing insects and butterflies can be a good starting point for creative details with applications or embroaderies of natural themes on the fabric.

This is the first time I recycle an old pair of jeans and create a bag out of it. The lovely story about it and tutorial on TandemBags Blog! I wish you as much fun as I had!
