Since then a lot of other things have changed and we have other projects for the future but our purpose is still the same: creating for our family and for our guests a small complex in harmony with nature and running it with full respect for the environment. For these reasons we encourage our guests to take part in this project. Some examples:
Compost: we use all our organic wastes to produce humus which we reuse as organic fertiliser. We invite you to separate garbage and we will dispose of it in the appropriate recycling bins. Organic farming: our production is organic and it is mainly for self consumption. We pay great attention to quality, the use of traditional harvesting and processing methods, and to the revival of flavours from the past. Promoting substainability: we support local and international organisations
which encourage sustainable agriculture and responsible tourism and
we promote local organic farmers, artists and craftsmen. |
Our
challenge started in 2000: when, looking for genuine values and
a life-style in contact with nature, we moved from the town to the countryside
and we started to restore the building and the garden with enthusiasm.
Furthermore the idea of opening a Bed and Breakfast was a good opportunity
for us to meet people from all over the world and exchange experiences
and points of view... whilst staying at home.
In 2001, we were able to welcome our first guests. That winter, the
new vineyard was planted and the old olives trees were dramatically
pruned. Next spring our vegetable garden was ready and we started
to work on the herb garden.
Water: Drinking water comes from a well and it is used only for bathrooms
and kitchens. As drinking water is precious, we invite you to be sensitive,
especially with showers. For the garden, we collect rain water in a
large tank during the winter months. Waste water is filtered by special
water plants according to environment-friendly techniques and reused
in the garden and fields without using any electrical devices.
